Our Mission Statement
Empowering low income and un-housed neighbors of Santa Barbara County through advocacy, activism, education and legal actions to end the criminalization of poverty.
Who Are our Members:
CSJ is composed of pro bono attorneys, former and current unhoused neighbors and community advocates
Why we Exist:
We have observed that within the existing network of legal services available to the homeless and poor, there exist many gaps, and therefore it often happens that unjust laws, or unjust enforcement of the law, goes unchallenged, and that many people that do not have adequate access to professional assistance when facing the legal process – especially in those cases where people are charged with infractions.
